Unlike wiremesh screens which are usually made of steel, the energy resistance of stainless steel wire mesh makes it one of the most versatile materials available. Stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 316 are the most widely used of various other stainless steel specifications.
Like all alloys, SS 304 and SS 316 are classified according to the quality of the steel and the amount of carbon and chromium contained in them. However, the selected alloy is only one of many specifications used to select the right wire mesh screen. If welding is required, then stainless steel having less than 0.03% carbon will be perfect.
